Darkness: Surly’s massive Russian Imperial Stout brings waves of flavors – chocolate, cherries, raisins, coffee, and toffee, finishing with a non-traditional dose of aroma hops.

Damien: From the blackest depths of the brewhouse comes Damien, Child of Darkness. Spawned from the usually discarded remnants of Darkness, Damien is a dry-hopped black ale. Flavors of roasted malt and dark brown sugar suffocated by aromas of tangerine and pine.

Furious Black:Created for Darkness Day 2015, its overall presence and citrusy hoppy aroma is recognizably Furious but with subtle roasted notes and black in color.

Fall Beer Dinner with Fulton Brewing at Coteau des Prairies Lodge

Date(s) - 09/21/16
7:00 pm

Coteau des Prairies Lodge
9953 141st Ave SE
Havana, ND

From Coteau des Prairies Lodge:

To celebrate the coming of fall, we are hosting a unique beer dinner and live music event and live brewing demonstration on the evening of Wednesday, September 21st. We are featuring amazing craft beers from Fulton Brewing Company paired with a multiple course dinner designed and prepared by Executive Chef Jeff Anderson from Blue Plate Restaurant Co.

To kick off the evening, the talented Brady Toops will perform a concert. Brady, the small town Minnesota singer/songwriter who is becoming known on the national scene, is making a stop at the lodge on a tour across the upper Midwest to showcase music from his upcoming album. You don’t want to miss this!

We have been doing this beer dinner thing for a few years now and we have always wanted to incorporate an actual brewing component into the dinner. Well…our farm grown hops will be ready to pick and the plan is to brew a ‘wet’ hopped beer at the dinner as a demonstration for our guests. Juno Choi, a brewing industry expert from BSG (Brewer Supply Group), will be on hand to answer any questions about the brewing process. Jared Stober, CEO at Two Track Malting, will be available to talk about craft malts grown and malted in North Dakota.

At our Fall Beer Dinner, you will experience a ‘one night only’ menu complete with brewery stories and expert pairings. Ryan Petz, president and co-founder of Fulton Brewing Company, will introduce each of his beers. Chef Jeff will describe the pairings as each course is served.

Our Fall Beer Dinner guests will be among the first to try Fulton’s new year round beer ‘Standard Lager’. Standard is an all-malt American lager, amber in hue and full of flavor. It is as American as baseball and apple pie. We will also be featuring Fulton’s Taproom exclusive ‘MPLS Mild’, an English Dark Mild Ale. It’s perfect for ushering in the chilly fall evenings ahead.

The event is on Wednesday, September 21st at Coteau des Prairies Lodge. Everyone is welcome, but space is limited and meals are available by reservation only. Alcohol will be served only to those over 21 years of age. The price is $75 per person. The meal includes a gourmet five course meal and 5oz. of beer served with each course. Water and coffee will be provided. Sodas and additional alcoholic beverages will be sold at the bar.

4pm – Doors open
6pm – Brady Toops concert
7pm – Beer dinner

For reservations, call 701-680-1175.

Hello from the “New Kid”

Here to drink your beer. Ryan Anderson.

Greetings from a recent Twin Cities’ transplant. I’m Ryan Anderson and I’ll be helping with for the foreseeable future. About 10 years ago I started another website that you may be familiar with – And about three years ago, we cloned many of the elements of that site over to, with local beer guy Dean Gundberg at the helm. Dean has worked tirelessly to keep this site active – I’ve mostly just ensured that it is functional and easy on the eyes.

My family and I relocated to the F/M area to be closer to all of our parents and to step away from ridiculous commutes. We both enjoyed our jobs (Hell, I worked at Brewers Supply Group… I loved my job), but wanted a change in order to slow our worlds down a bit, so here we are.

I spent my formative years in Fergus Falls, looking to Fargo as the “big city.” The music scene in Fargo drew me here in the early 90s and I spent a few years involved with the music and ‘zine world while in high school and college. During that time I developed a love for “dark beer” at Ralph’s Corner Bar in Moorhead (RIP), and then a palate expansion thanks to the Great Northern on Broadway and a few liquor stores that carried a variety of what we used to call “Microbrews.”

It’s been nearly twenty years since I’ve lived here, but I’m glad to be back. Our first two months here have been a whirlwind of moving, paperwork, acclimating, construction and more paperwork (selling a house is a lot of work). I’ve also been playing the role of stay-at-home Dad while we’ve been getting settled. Life is starting to get a little less crazy and I’m looking forward to connecting with local beer nerds, reps and brewery folks soon. We’re tossing around the thought of a FMBeer-related meetup sometime in the not-so-distant future. Drop us a line if you’re interested!

I’m also in the process of finding my dream-gig in Fargo/Moorhead. Most recently I’ve been working as a designer with the marketing team at Brewers Supply Group. Before that, I was the advertising manager for a Twin Cities ski/bike/paddle/camp outdoor store. Whatcha’ got Fargo/Moorhead?

Looking forward to drinking more of your beers!
